《海外遊子吟》音樂會十月十四日湾区上演

    遊子心，移民路，故園情。北美华人走过昨天、走进今天、走向明天的音乐见证。  「海外遊子吟」是為北美華人創作的第一部合唱組曲。「遊子吟」是唐朝詩人孟郊歌頌母愛的名作，組曲借用此題表現海外華人對母國的眷戀之情。組曲概略地回顧了華人移居北美的歷史，描寫了今日北美華人的生活，他們的悲歡和渇望，他們的奮鬥所體現的堅韌不拔、自強不息的民族性格。組曲中唱道的“只盼望，跨過海峽兄弟牽手”，是海內外華人的心聲。組曲還唱道，“一樣的懷抱，不一樣的傾訴”，不管意識型態有甚麼樣的分歧，渇望祖國統一、民族興旺，總是炎黃子孫共同的懷抱。

    我們帶著微笑唱，我們含著眼淚唱；唱我們曾經的坎坷，唱我們永存的夢想；唱出我們的瀟灑，唱出我們的豪放。

“Lyric of Overseas Chinese” Concert

October 14, 2006

“Lyric of Overseas Chinese”, the first cantata for the overseas Chinese, written and composed by the overseas Chinese, will be presented for the very first time at the California Theatre in San Jose at 7:30pm on October 14, 2006.

The lyric reflects the history of the Chinese Americans coming to the new continent since one hundred fifty years ago, and depicts the present life of the new immigrants. It appeals to all the Chinese Americans, no matter where they came from, the mainland, Taiwan, or Hong Kong, etc. to unite together, to understand each other, “to hold hands

across the Taiwan Strait”, to work for the welfare of Chinese American communities, and contribute to the unionization of greater China.

The concert will be the largest such performance in the Chinese communities in terms of scale, scope and financial budget. The concert will be the place for us Chinese Americans to sing together. We sing with smile. We sing with tears in our eyes. We sing our hardship, our sorrow, our happiness, and our longing for a bright future.
